TCLI has experienced great progress over the past ten years. Some of them are as follows:

2012
Spelling Bee
The spelling bee contest began in 2012 in Jos and Bauchi states. It began with only a printed material of the words for the contest but from the second year, now includes an audio CD with the proper pronunciations of the words.

Registration as an NGO
In July 2017, TCLI completed her registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as Non-Governmental Organization.

In July 2017, TCLI began to involve public schools in her spelling competitions and performed her first mock contest at a public school situated in Jos.

On August 5th, 2017, TCLI had her 5th annual Spelling Contest which took place at Korret’s Hamlet, Jos. Over 130 pupils were in attendance from both public and private schools. We had nearly two dozen volunteers and it was a huge success. Bauchi also hosted their own 5th annual spelling contest in November, 2017, with about 50 pupils in attendance.

Spelling Bee
3 spelling bees were held in 2018, in Plateau, Bauchi and Akwa-Ibom states with a total of about 300 children in attendance.

TCLI began work with IDPs in 2018 and successfully embarked on two camp visits to the Abagana and Daudu camps in Benue State and celebrated International Literacy Day with IDP children in the St. Theresa IDP camp in Yola. TCLI also partnered with MADI (Mentor Africa Development Initiative) on her ‘Chess Mistress’ program with IDPs, teaching them weekly to play Chess and Scrabble in order to promote literacy and critical thinking among the IDP children.

The Period Care Pack for School Girls Campaign
In August 2019, TCLI had its annual spelling bee contest in both Plateau and Bauchi states with a total of about 170 children in attendance across schools in both states. Some partners for the event were NASCO, Korret’s Hamlet, Yaks & Yaks, Rent with Us, Jos Strawberry and Grains, T3Pixel, and other individuals.

In December 2019, TCLI visited the Daudu IDP camp in collaboration with other organizations and set up a portable library stocked with about 200 books and learning resources for the children. There was a cookout and a donation of shoes and clothes as well.

The Period Care Pack for School Girls Campaign reached about 700 girls in 2019 alone.

#COVID19FOODDRIVEJOS
The #COVID19FOODDRIVEJOS campaign fed over 950 families during the COVID-19 lockdown in Jos, Plateau State.

In 2021, we had the 8th edition of annual Word Builders spelling bee in Jos.

Community Library Setup
In March 2022, we began setting up our first free community library and educational resource center in Jos North, Plateau State, Nigeria.

On the 20th of June, 2022 we launched the TCLI Stationery & Book Bank which is aimed at providing FREE stationery to children in Jos and beyond who truly cannot afford to buy stationery to aid their learning. 71 school children in need have benefited from the bank already, with a total of 758 pieces of stationery distributed among this number of learners.

On July 16th, 2022, TCLI hosted 43 non-profit impact makers from across 12 NGOs to the maiden edition of its NON-PROFIT IMPACT LEADERS BOOTCAMP which was a one-day bootcamp to engage with non-profit impact leaders in Plateau State with an aim to encourage collaboration
